Hi Fabulous Painters!

It's Time to Paint Again! Spring 2015

First of all, my apologies for being gone from this newsletter for so long. 2014 was a very tough year for me as I lost my dear husband to cancer.

I am now back with this Spring time edition of Plein Air Musings - just in time for the fabulous weather, the fresh green and flowers of another glorious Spring. This year it is particularly significant to me as I realize with profound gratitude how plein air painting has helped me personally get through difficult times and start to come back to life again. The power of what we do when we go out into Nature to paint is profound and very healing to all of us, whether we are suffering from stress, too much on-line time or other difficult challenges in our lives.

My role at is to encourage all of you to go out painting, explore your world, whether near or far, and let our gift of art lighten our hearts and lives. Our paintings may then go on to grace the walls of homes or offices and provide a glimpse of the beauty of nature to others who aren't as blessed as we are. Putting our works of art out into the world by showing them in our local communities and on-line completes the circle of our art lives. It also helps with community building and creating new relationships as we participate.

The social nature of some of our painting outings allows us to connect with people we would never normally encounter. Somehow the sight of an artist at work in a public space creates a feeling of instant connection with those watching us. They feel compelled to stop by and say "hi". I used to find these encounters annoying - but have since changed my mind completely. I now use them as a way to spread the word about what we do, encourage them to try it and sometimes, sell a painting! If you aren't already part of a plein air painting group, I encourage you to find a group or even form your own group. It is now easier than ever to connect with like minded people by using Social Media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+. Getting out there regularly to paint is much more likely if we are going to meet others at the painting location. Here is the website of the group I belong to: - As you can see, we have a lot of fun and enjoy ourselves together.

I will be volunteering at the 2015 Plein Air Convention in Monterey the week of April 11 through 16. I will report any interesting things I encounter there in my next Musings newsletter.

I am always looking for writing about our style of painting or plein air painting site suggestions from you, so don't be bashful if you have something wonderful to share with your fellow artists.

Join Plein Air Muse on Facebook to get regular information on all kinds of things that may be of interest.

Keep the Brush Wet!
