I decided I had to post this story - about plein air painting in strange places! Three of us painted at Old Mission San Bautista in the small Central California town of San Juan Bautista - the Old Mission church was built in 1797 by the Spaniards and is part of a string of 21 Mission Churches stretching from San Diego all the way to San Francisco.

The spot we chose for our painting time just happens to be within feet of the famous (or infamous) San Andreas Fault line - we were also close to a seismegraph machine that records all the earthquakes - lucky for us it was a very quiet day. The most action we got was being visited by the local roosters (photo of one attached) - All part of the adventure.
