School House Beach - Sonoma Coast State Park

School House Beach is part of the Sonoma Coast State Park. It is a beautiful sandy beach surrounded by rocky headlands.

In Summer, the beach can be foggy but clears by midday. Best time to paint here is in afternoon light - after 3pm.

Located 3+ miles north of Bodega Bay on Highway 1. From the North it is 7 miles south of Jenner on Highway 1.

Kozlowski Farms in the Russian River Valley

This charming family farm is located at 5566 Gravenstein Hwy (Hwy 116) in Forestville, Sonoma County.

Great views of the valley with vineyards,

Please check-in with the owners at the Farm Store before you set up your plein air painting equipment. Please do not park in front of the store for any length of time.

An added bonus to painting at this site is the wonderful goodies you can buy - homemade pies, jams, jellies, salad dressings etc. Yum, Yum!

Matanzas Creek Winery - 6097 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa

This is really a most beautiful winery with large plantings of lavender - If you want to paint the lavender in full bloom, then June is the month to go.

Views of distant hills and vineyards as well as the winery itself. The winery always encourages a visit to their Tasting Room to get those creative juices flowing!

Sara Lee Vineyards - 3575 Slusser Road, Windsor, Ca.

Gorgeous vineyard and oak trees, lots of flowers and gardens.

To get there: North on Highway 101 from Santa Rosa, take River Road exit. Turn left heading west on River road. Turn left into Sara Lee Vineyards - park at the top parking lot.

Kendall Jackson Wine Center, 5007 Fulton Road, Fulton, California

Set in 120 acres of gardens and vines there is lots to paint here - pick from the Culinary gardens, vineyards and the chateau.

Check in with the tasting room before you paint.

To get there:Take highway 101 north of Santa Rosa to River Road. At the stoplight turn left going over the freeway. At first stoplight turn right on Fulton Road. Kendall Jackson Wine Center is on the left side.

After painting try wine tasting and/or wine and food pairings.
